Tom Coward, Head Gardener at the historic Gravetye Manor;
Updated on 21:10:2025
We will be joined by Tom Coward, Head Gardener at the historic Gravetye Manor, Sussex, who will tell us about the history and development of fruit growing in the walled garden and orchards. Before moving to Gravetye 11 years ago, Tom had been Fergus Garrett’s deputy at Great Dixter House & Gardens. His talk will be followed by Lawrence Weston, founder of a community farm near Bristol that grows strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, loganberries and jostaberries, as well as greengages, apples, pears and medlars.
We meet in the Tulip Tree Room, RHS Garden Wisley from 10.30am for 11.02am start, leaving 2′ for remembrance silence. Tea/coffee will be available before the start of meeting.
